Squirrel Monkey Baby Boom!!!

The endemic titis or squirrel monkeys, are the only monkeys in the country that syncronize their mating. This means that all titi mothers are pregnant at the same time and therefore will have their babies more or less around the same time too.

It was about a month ago that the first babies started booming in the jungle. For the last three weeks, the titi monkey troops have been quite shy, but now they are starting to appear again on the hotel grounds. The babies´ little bodies are only four inches long! If you come soon to Arenas del Mar (www.arenasdelmar.com) you will have the rare privelage to see the proud mothers swinging by showing off their furry offspring, who will ride on their backs for four whole months.

Art Exhibition at Arenas del Mar

On February 27 and 28, 2009 we at Arenas del Mar organized an art exhibition that showed the works of Costa Rican painter Felix Murillo. The presentation consisted of ten different exhibitions of the artist’s original work and a number of his prints. The event was held at the El Mirador Restaurant and a number of community members, as well as guests, were present at the event (some of whom even bought some of his work!). This is the first of many events that we hope to host at Arenas del Mar Beach and Nature Resort in order to promote Costa Rican culture and art in the local community.
