At Arenas Del Mar, Guest Generosity Means New School Supplies for a Local School

Quepos, Costa Rica, September 11, 2009 - Arenas Del Mar Nature and Beach Resorts’ Guest Giving Program donated over one million colones (just over US$1,700) worth of schools supplies for students and teachers at a local school.

As part of the resort’s commitment to sustainable operations that follow the quadruple bottom line (people, planet, profit and place), guests are invited to donate back to the community which they have enjoyed during their visit, when they pay for their stay.  Voluntary donations for any amount from $1 or more are gratefully accepted.

And thanks to the generosity of their guests, this year the team at Arenas Del Mar chose to support the needs of Paquita School which has 220 students from the surrounding area. Basic supplies like printer paper, graphite and coloured pencils, construction paper, print cartridges, rulers, clay, scissors, blue, dictionaries, markers and white boards were presented to teachers and students.

As well, General Manager Fabian Palma and his sustainable operations team lead by Kalinga Rodriguez spent time with grade four and grade five students teaching them about the importance of recycling.

Our resort attracts people from around the world because of the beauty of our natural surroundings and our local culture. Our guests donation program allows guests to feel good about giving back to the community they enjoyed while they visited with us and it enables us to foster positive relationships between the local community and our guests” says Rodriguez.
