Driving directions - San José to Manuel Antonio

Head west out of San José towards the international airport on the Interamerican Highway and turn off at the Atenas-Orotina-Jacó-Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio exit. Take a left and follow the road and continue to the town of Orotina. Once you arrive in Orotina follow the signs to Jacó and then down the pacific coast to Quepos. Once in Quepos downtown, follow the signs to Manuel Antonio National Park and later the signs to Arenas Del Mar Beach & Nature Resort. Before the road starts descending you will see Barba Roja Restaurant, Los Altos Condominums and Arenas Del Mar sign to your right. Take a right towards Mariposa Hotel and continue for 600 meters down the road until you reach the second left-hand side entrance were you will find another sign. Continue down the hill till the end of the road. Estimated driving time: 4 hours. Four by four vehicle preferred, but regular cars should have no problem.

Additional CRT Services:

Airport assistance and transfer
Arrive at Costa Rica's Juan Santamaría International airport. A CANATUR representative will be waiting for you just outside the airplane to give you a sticker with your name on it that will help us to identify you later on. After passing through immigration and clearing customs you will be met by another CANATUR employee who will escort you to the exit and hand you over to a CRT representative, our transportation provider. This person will carry a sign that has your name and the Arenas Del Mar Beach & Nature Resort logo on it. Your driver will be wearing a kaki colored shirt with the CRT logo and green trousers. He or she will take you to the van that will transfer to the hotel, the approximate driving time is 3 hours.

Why not turn your transfer to the hotel into a tour with the services of a bilingual naturalist guide? Your guide will be waiting for you at the Airport. On the way to the hotel your guide will point out interesting sites such as coffee plantations, national parks, african palm oil plantations, mangrove forest, tell you about our culture, history and much more. And in case you have reserved it, we will also take you to visit the different parks, reserves and other areas.

Rent a Car
Renting a car and driving in Costa Rica might just be the adventure of your dreams. You should be aware that the driving conditions in Costa Rica are not as good as in your country; you will find potholes and very few road signs. However, it is the best way to explore all those incredible natural spots Costa Rica offers. Costa Rica Domestic flights to Manuel Antonio
The easiest and fastest way to get to Arenas Del Mar is with a domestic flight. There are two domestic airlines that offer scheduled daily flights arriving at the small airport of Quepos, just a short 15 minute ride from the resort. Sansa leaves from a small terminal at the Juan Santamaria International Airport in Alajuela and Nature Air from the Tobías Bolaños Airport located closer to downtown San José. Since 2004, Nature Air has been the world's first and still only airline to offset 100% of its carbon dioxide emissions by conserving tropical forests in the Osa Peninsula. Every flight you take goes toward the protection of these ecosystems, nearly 325 football fields of pure oxygen and biodiversity!
