Tamandua
Scientific Name: Tamandua mexicana Name is Spanish: Oso Hormiguero Ant-eaters are found in the Neotropics munching its ants and termites. There are 4 species in total, the giant, the pygmy and 2 types of tamaduas, the northern and the southern. The difference between the last two is the shape of their black vest and their ranges. This unusual creature is nocturnal and roams through out the trees like its cousin the sloth, really slow. It uses its long sticky tongue to get ants out of their nest. Then it has to be quick or the soldier ants will come and bite him badly specially around the eyes. |
